About
I created UniBytes because I saw a problem on campus—tons of food going to waste after events while students were looking for their next meal. This platform connects surplus food from campus events with students who want it, reducing waste and helping the community at the same time.
Using UniBytes is simple: browse the map to find surplus food events happening around campus in real-time, claim your portion with just a few clicks, then head to the location to pick up your free meal. It's that easy.
UniBytes is fully open source. I encourage you to clone the repo and adapt it for your own college campus or school. The codebase is designed to be easily customizable for different institutions.
This site includes mock data so you can explore and get a feel for how it works in action.
